Our Favorite Place Ever. Warren Dunes State Park
One place that is near and dear to our hearts is Warren Dunes State Park in Sawyer Michigan. It’s been a tradition on my wife’s side of the family for over 17 years. Our little guy Sawyer might just be named after our time spent in Sawyer Michigan. Or maybe he was named after Tom Sawyer the adventurer. Or maybe it was the song “Tom Sawyer” by Rush which was inspired by Mark Twains literary character, Tom Sawyer . Ehh, it was probably a combination of all three. I wonder if Natalie will read this… She just thought it was a cool name. I digress…
Warren Dunes is only a few hours away from our home in Indiana. We have gone just for a Saturday and we have tent camped in the park for the entire weekend. Last year we purchased a 98 Coleman Fleetwood Sunridge Pop Up Camper and set up at Bear Cave Campground located 20 minutes inland. Another story for another time…
In my opinion the best part of going to any park along lake Michigan are the sunsets. We’ve photographed some of the most beautiful sunsets over the years. Whether its clear skies or overcast, Lake Michigan is sure to give you a spectacular show.
Sure we have had our fun. We always bring tons of food, canopy tents, chairs, and blankets. The beach is a great place to unwind and Warren Dunes does not disappoint.
We will be visiting Michigan twice this year in our new Hideout. We will be in Holland Michigan May 31st thru June 1 then we will be back at Bear Cave Campground for our annual Dunes Trip July 26th thru July 28th… If you will be in the area we would love to meet up. If not, we encourage you to add Sawyer Michigan to your list of must see places to visit. Keep up to date on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter @gotraveltrailer.
